In 2008 I released the first version of Vinnplayer and stopped working on it in April 2010. After more than a year of no development I still get a lot of new users and feedback how to improve the player. So I decided to start working on it again, at least to keep the player vital and worthwhile.

The first thing I changed is the YouTube version API, for the programmers. A lot of video’s weren’t playing anymore and people were complaining about it and they should. I’ve fixed it with updating the flash player. This also fixed the fullscreen functionality, it was sort of twitchy and you couldn’t get out of fullscreen mode, this has also been fixed. While implementing this fix I found out that YouTube adds advertisements in the video’s. I’m sorry about that but I can’t do anything to remove it.

There were also some issues with the scroll-bar and the scrolling content. I’ve updated it with a new version of the scroll-bar and it should work much better now. You will also be able to use the mouse scrollwheel to go up and down. While doing that I found some other annoyances, for example when you try to search you can’t press enter to start the search. I’ve resolved that issue too.

I’m also happy to announce that you can import YouTube’s playlists now. You can do it by going to import and adding a YouTube playlist link. Below there are two link’s you can use for importing:

While changing servers a while back I accidentally uploaded the wrong Mac/Linux version of Vinnplayer which didn’t work anymore. I’ve changed it to a new version and it should work again.

Let’s finish off with a summary and what I have in store for the future.

• Updated the flash video player, it now loads all video’s again
• Fullscreen functionality is working properly again
• The scrollbar has been revised and should now work a lot smoother
• Playlists can be imported from YouTube
• Vinnplayer for Mac/Linux has been restored

For the future I’m working on exporting playlists to file and importing it back again. I’m also working on better playlists but I will need to change the way how playlists are stored in the database. The benefit for you will be you can save unlimited playlists and all video’s will load properly.

Hi all, since I’m using Vinnplayer myself again I’ve had some annoyances with the form fields so I’ve modified a thing or two.

The first thing I’ve changed, which was also requested a couple of times but didn’t find the need to implement it until now. If you press the enter button on a textfield your request will be processed. Just like a search in a search engine. I’m also thinking about a autocomplete but that will take some time.

Another thing I’ve modified is when you click on the textfield you automatically select the whole text. This way it is faster to search on a different keyword.

Well that’s it for minor tweaks. If you have anything you would like to add please let me know.

- Full support for foreign languages
- A new way to store the play lists more efficiently.
And maybe I’m working on Vinnplayer 3. But who knows.

Currently vinnplayer doesn’t seem to work anymore. Probably due some update at YouTube’s end. I will try to fix this asap and will let everyone know when it’s working again.

*UPDATE*

Vinnplayer is working again. It seemed that youtube had changed the api url. I’ve changed it and now it seems to be working again. I’m sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.

A new day, a new post. It has been a while since HD was released and I worked on the Vinnplayer. I’m using the player more and more at work and found a bug when you use the scrollwheel of the mouse. I think the bug has been there a while and I’m sorry if someone encountered it. I’ve fixed it now and also updated the libraries which means more speed and you can now use the scrollwheel inside the search results and the playlist!

If you find any bug please let me know and I will try to solve it asap.

I’ve updated vinnplayer today so it supports YouTube HQ and HD 720p videos. This has been a long time request and it’s finally here. Please check it out. Search for HD inside the player and check to see if it’s working correctly.

Also I’ve switched to Windows 7 and found a bug in vinnplayer for Windows 7. I’m trying to resolve that at the moment. If you have this problem please wait a few days for me to fix this.

*Update* No more problems can be found in Windows 7.

I’ve added a loading bar back to Vinnplayer after a request from one of the users. I’ve also closed all old version of the player so I suggest you start downloading the latest one, when your application doesn’t work anymore!

Hello everyone. I’ve just uploaded the Mac version of version 2. It works the same as the Windows version. You can download it here.

I would like to add another few words. There are some minor problems which I’m working on. The multi language feature isn’t working properly yet and there seem some other minor problems hanging around. If you find any please let me know.

Version 2.0 has been released!

This means you can download it straight away from the download page. Before you start with your feedback. It doesn’t look like a 2.0 yet. That’s because it’s a remake and I will start adding new features weekly. I’ve already got some feedback from the previous version and some nice new features I can start to add.

If you experience any problems or the application just isn’t working please tell me about it. I cannot test the application on every operating system and with every configuration.

Hey everyone and hopefully beloved user of my little player.

I’ve got some updates about 2.0. It will be released…. tomorrow! It is almost done and ready for production use. It took me some time to finish and I want to do this right.

I’ve also got some messages about some antivirus programs detected a virus in my program. I did some research and it does detect a virus with Ikarus and A2 Squared antivirus. I would like to tell you there is no virus, malware or any other malicious software inside my player. I hope version 2.0 will resolve this problem.

That said I want to show you the list of new features;

Bigger interface
The interface almost doubled in size. This means a bigger videoscreen and a place for more features.

Better search
This is probably the most exciting feature in my eyes. I’ve enhanced the search so every movie you find actually works and is viewable. This means no more problematic searches for your music videos! How awesome is that.

Import from YouTube(tm)
You can now insert a link from youtube right in the player and adds the video to your playlist.

Multi-language support
The new version supports the Chinese and Arabic characters.

Sadly I have to inform that Vinnplayer 2.0 has been delayed and not because it takes longer to finish but another project has higher priority at the moment. Now I can’t say it will be done in the coming week but I will try my best.
